William Tolliver

William Tolliver is one of my favorite artists. I look at this painting of his and it fills me with hope, wonder, emotions and I feel connected to the very people who must have lived here -- who live here still. It reminds me of some the homes of relatives I visited in my childhood.
I love his painting of women working in a field. I saw the original in New Orleans in 1988 and fell in love with it. I remember it was a little over $4,000.00 . . . waaaay out of my league at the time.
It has increased (perhaps quadrupled) in value and remains out of my reach! Funny how time has changed nothing in that respect! Well, that and the fact that I still feel so many wonderful things when I look at a Tolliver painting.
